5 common supplement ingredients to avoid

TOPIC: Health and Wellness

Two years ago, I found out I had high levels of mercury, lead and thallium in my body. I started to look at my water, foods and the supplements I was taking. Many of the supplements I was taking were not third party tested and, to my surprise, were part of the problem (not the solution, like they should have been).  After I started researching the supplements, I realized what I thought was helping me, was actually contributing to my high levels of metals.  I went on a hunt to learn more, and what I learned set me on a new path to wellness. I was surprised to find out that the supplement industry isn’t regulated and there is no mandatory third-party testing. I discovered there is a health crisis with the toxins found in so many supplements. The bottom line: Heavy metals cause the following problems for your body:

  • Weight gain
  • Autoimmune and hormonal issues
  • Depression
  • Gut Issues
  • Anxiety

How is an industry that prides itself on health, unhealthy? It’s simple. Consumers don’t have all the pieces to the puzzle. We trust labels are safe. We trust celebrities who endorse them. We trust without the research. Blind trust doesn’t work for me. I want to know what is going in my body, don’t you? We shouldn’t assume if it’s at a health food store it’s healthy. Here are some important ingredients to avoid:

  • Artificial colors and dyes
  • Magnesium Stearate which is comes from hydrogenation of palm, cottonseed, and canola oils
  • Sodium Benzoate
  • Titanium Dioxide

My biggest recommendation is to be your own advocate. Research supplement companies and fight for your health. Try to find the root cause of any illness and don’t give up on your health.
